      Default Cannabutter

Here is my recipe for delicious cannabutter.

I use a large electric roasting pot.
      1 clean knee high hose
1 to 2 pounds of trim (I usually go on the heavy side)
      3 pounds of butter
enough water to cover the trim

First I place the trim in the hose and knot the end. I melt the butter in the roaster, then toss in the stocking with trim and cover with water. When the water starts melting the butter I stir to make sure the butter moves through the bud. I leave this on low heat over night and part of the next day. 8-12 hours, and stir it as often.

When the butter is done, I pour the water/butter mixture through dampened cheesecloth and into a bowl to sit on the counter at room temperature until it cools. This allows a lot of contaminates to settle from the butter. When cool I set in in the refrigerator to cool and the butter to congeal. Don't forget to reclaim lost butter from the stocking by reheating in clean water and processing it too.

When the butter is firmly set, I take it out of the bowl, pour out the water, rinse the "green" from the bottom of the butter slab and remelt it in clean water.
I go through the cooling and settling process again. I usually go on to do it a third time to get all the "green" taste from my butter. This results in pale yellow butter that has almost no detectable cannabis taste to it.
