Purple Chitral Single Seed Grow Report

I know it probably seems biased, but I just wanted to post up some pics and a description of a single random female of the purple kush/chitrali #1 line. I will be breeding the next generation of this line over the winter in a greenhouse, and grew a single female to get an idea of this line. The reason why a single random female is a good test for you guys, is that these pictures and traits aren't from a females selected from a commercial grow of hundreds or thousands of plants, just a plain, presumable average female, yet I believe this plant could easily pass for an elite in the cali clone circles.

What I look for in a breeding indica is a plant which possesses a high level of floral tones and olfactory complexity as opposed to the hash and skunk/funk tones of a typical afghan, accompanied by high resin production, and a floral structure that bears more resemblance to a super dense sativa, than to the round golf balls of a typical afghan. By having floral tones and olfactory complexity you now have an indica that can contribute to and compliment the olfactory qualities of a sativa hybrid and successive filial generations, as opposed to having to having to remove the indica olfactory qualities in successive generations. That IMO, is really where this line shines as a breeding tool, it has the late september finish, lovely purple coloration, high resin production, and yield that most good indicas can contribute, but it also lacks many of the indica qualities which I usually end up having to remove when they appear in subsequent generations after crossing to a sativa.

The smell to me is primarily a mix of gardenias and nepalese charas, with lemon peel, and pine notes in the background, definitely the most floral and complex landrace indica line I have come across when it comes to olfactory traits. I normally overlook plants whose merits are strictly in the olfactory arena, and although I think it is safe to assume this particular line is stellar in other ways, I would be willing to pass this is suitable breeding stock simply because of its olfactory qualities and resin production, because the terpene production is that good.

Another attribute where this line shines is it's ability to pass purple traits to it's offspring. Purple traits can be tricky, some plants which are very purple don't breed as if they were, and those that do are often suffer in just about every other aspect of their combining abilities. Once again, this line really shines in this arena also. This really is one of those lines that make a breeder with mediocre skill or resources appear to be a pro, it is simply that good, and is perhaps the best heirloom breeding indica I've come across.
