Testing time.
I'm honored to be a part of this. Very excited to see what these are. Proud to bring you, Test Batch 00001. ![]() At first glance, I think these seeds seem to be on the smaller side. I notice that what tiger striping there is on these seeds, was flaking off, like the skin off an onion. I've seen this kind of thing before on other seeds. I think it's normal. Speaking of normal. Normally,I don't drop the seeds in water for 12 hrs, at germination. I usually drop the seeds straight into jiffy -7's. Since it's in the testing guidelines, the seeds took a dip, for the night, in this cup. One seed sank to the bottom immediately. It started to rise back to the top, by the time I got the cam in place and snapped this pic. ![]() Straight Tap water. I don't have a ph/ec/ppm tester yet. I can go get one though. Any suggestions on a proper device, would be great. Next time I do this, it'll be in a shot glass, just like when I take cuttings. Since I had this big cup of water, at planting time, I had to get creative. I got a paper towel and another cup. I slowly poured the water and seeds out, onto the paper towel. Went a little too fast and almost washed one little seed overboard. That was sketchy. Go slow. In the pic below, you can see "stabbinz", who helps me plant my seeds and clones. He can even clean bowls for ya. Also, the mini-temp gun. It's a nice tool. I've had one of these for years. Point and shoot, showing a tiny red laser beam. You put the red dot on the thing to be tested and the LCD screen tells the temp. ![]() Water temp, out of the tap is really cold, high 50's/low 60's. Water temp in the cup was 70 degrees F, which is also room temperature. This is typical for this space in Autumn, when the sun is high in the sky. When the sun is down, it can dip to low/mid 60's in the cab. That's too cold. Had to break out the ghetto heat mat. The bucket sits on some 1 x 2 wood scraps. This elevates the tray, enough distance away from the heat source, so the heat mat wont burn them. That old heat mat has no thermostat on it. The surface of the mat reads, 105 F - 120 F. That would cook them beans. Propping the tray up and away like this, adds just a few degrees of heat. I have these in my cab, under a shoplight, with 2 x 40 watt 6500K bulbs. I cut little thumbnail sized holes, in the 4 top corners of the dome. That seems to be the right amount of air, so I can keep the lid on tight. ![]() The temp of the Jiffy's in the dome is 76 degrees F, last I checked. I try to keep it between 75 - 80 degrees F. The seeds looked swollen when I planted them in the jiffy's. We should hopefully see something pop up here in the next few days. ~Blaze
