well this trip was relativley short, 10 days total. it was a return reunion trip me and a friend did 18 years ago following in the footsteps of r gordon wasson, experiencing a syncretic hybrid form of pre columbian mushroom shamanism, and looking for plants we had only read about as obsure citations, Ololiúqui, cacahuaxochitl, hojas de la maria pastora, sinicuichi, durumbes, pajaritos, and san isidro mushrooms. this time was all about fun, reconnecting, and synchronicity. it was also a great chance to chase down some highland oaxacan cannabis seeds.
![]() santo domingo church and ethnobotanical garden oaxacan stencil graf art oaxacan street party on to the highlands ![]() sierra mazateca sacred plant church durumbes (landslide mushrooms) more durumbes (landslide mushrooms) made some prints maria sabina mural cannabis collecting was not our first priority, and without more time, contacts, aswell as being there mid season we did our best. unfortunetly the best samples were sensimilla, and we only collected seeds from one garden in the highlands. we formulated over tobala (wild mezcal) and lime that the most effective collections trip in oaxaca would be a surf trip to zipolite where all the best cannabis comes to you. trail blazing does not get you very far, unlike nepal. oaxacan swaggleberry, only sample with seeds, hoping the grower just sucked, from a town across the valley in the highlands. nice sativa tops from zipolite highland oaxacan gold ![]() chanced upon this through the synchronicity web, a friend of the family we were staying with had their friend come over, he was a junky in the 60's in mexico city, he came up into the mountains and the mushrooms changed his life, he got clean, and became the first beekeeper of the sierra mazatecs, and then went on a walkabout accross mexico teaching indigenous villages how to keep bees. he was a real charector and had a little brick of his favorite golden mountain herb. the pictures dont do it justice, it was golden, sweet and spicy, and let you get lost in the majik of the moment. anybody for fried grasshoppers...... es muy rico ![]() peace b
